Supracondylar Fracture of the Humerus

چکیده
Supracondytar fractures of the humerus are common in childhood, and in less developed countries many late malunions are seen. A restricted range of elbow movement often makes it difficult to measure varus-valgus deformity clinically. This can be assessed from bony points but may be hindered by chronic swelling around the elbow. In these cases the pronation-supination range of the forearm is almost never restricted and can be used to measure the angle of varus-valgus deformity, since the arc of this range depends on the orientation of the lower end of the humerus. Method. The patient is examined with both elbows at 90#{176} flexion, and the upper arms vertical. A rod is held in each hand, and the patient is asked to pronate fully and then to supinate both forearms (Figs 1 and 2). The maximum

Risk factors of loss reduction after percutaneous fixation in supracondylar humerus in pediatric: a descriptive-analytical study
Background & Aims: supracondylar humerus fracture is one of the most common pediatric elbow fractures accounting for about 16% of the pediatric fractures. Loss of reduction is one of the complications after closed and percutaneous fixation. This research is aimed to investigate the factors involved in the loss of reduction. Method: In this descriptive study, the children with supracondylar hum...

the aim of this study was to assess different surgical approaches of supracondylar fracture in 31 children.the surgical approches consisted of anteromedial (16 cases),posterior (13 cases) and anterolateral (2 cases). the rate of persistent complications was higher in the posterior approach.the most common complication eas soft tissue atrophy in posterior of elbow (69%) followed by limitation of...
متن کاملIatrogenic or fracture-related nerve injuries in supracondylar humerus fracture: is treatment necessary for nerve injury?
BACKGROUND Supracondylar humerus fractures are very common types of elbow fractures in children between the ages of three and ten years. Totally displaced supracondylar humerus fractures can be associated with neurovascular injuries, and treatment can be complicated by iatrogenic neurovascular injury, compartment syndrome, malunion, and elbow stiffness. AIM The aim of this study was to descri...
متن کاملFishtail deformity as a result of a non-displaced supracondylar fracture of the humerus.
Fishtail deformity is a very rare complication of undisplaced supracondylar fractures of the humerus in children. We report the case of a 10-year old girl presenting with pain in the right elbow eight years after a non-displaced supracondylar fracture of the humerus. Radiographs also demonstrated necrosis of the lateral part of the trochlea and of the head of the radius. With this long-term cli...

INTRODUCTION Simultaneous supracondylar humerus fracture and ipsilateral fracture of the proximal humerus in children is rare. CASE PRESENTATION A 10-year-old Turkish boy with an extension type supracondylar humerus fracture and ipsilateral fracture at the proximal metaphyseal-diaphyseal junction of the humerus was treated by closed reduction and percutaneous Kirschner wire fixation. Closed r...
متن کاملManagement of supracondylar fractures of the humerus in children: Conservative versus operative
Background and Objectives: Supracondylar fractures of the humerus are the most common fracture pattern of the elbow in children. Severely displaced supracondylar fractures of the distal humerus in children are a challenging problems. Many treatment methods have been described for the treatment of displaced supracondylar fractures of the humerus, however, it has not been reached a consensus for ...
